Caravan tour d'Europe 2

Part 2: We took a road trip with our caravan to the UK.

We just love the outdoors & camping life! The best way of traveling for us is with our own caravan, or as some call it, mobile home. We traveled in Europe with our mobile home to: Austria, Andorra, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden, Swiss... And still counting. Here is our caravan adventure to the West of Europe, Dorset and the New Forest in England...

On to the west

In the summer of 2015, we wanted to explore the South of England, Dorset and the New Forest NP and pre-booked a campsite near Wimborne. We had a fantastic holiday! What a beautiful country it is, with such friendly people.

Here is our itinerary ⬇️

We traveled from our home in the Netherlands to Wimborne / The New Forest National Park in one day, arriving at the campsite late in the evening. We took the next route:

  • Cuijk (NL) to Calais (FR) where we took the ferry (Direct Ferries) to Dover (UK).
  • From Dover we drove to Wimborne, our final destination, in one piece.

Total kilometers: 674 km one way (Cuijk – Wimborne/New Forest NP)

From Calais to Dover is the shortest crossing from the mainland of Europe to England (1,5 hours) and is approximately 35 km (via the Calais Canal).

Our trips during our stay

From our accommodation address in Wimborne/the New Forest, we made some fun day trips, including:

✅ Corfe Castle

✅ Poole Beach

✅ Burley – Clycing through New Forest National Park

✅ Durdle Door - natural limestone arch

✅ Paultons park - Home of Peppa Pig world

✅ Canterbury

Visa

As we have a Schengen passport, we didn't need a visa for the UK to enter at that time (it was before Brexit). Due to Brexit, you can no longer enter with an identity card,  you will need an international passport. Furthermore, you do not need to apply for a visa for the United Kingdom if you travel from an EU country as a tourist, if you do not stay longer than three months.
