Wadi Ghub Fujairah (The Rainbow Valley)

Wadi Ghub, better known as 'The Rainbow Valley', is one of a kind, truly a beauty! It is a great day trip from Dubai to the Emirate of Fujairah, less than a two-hour drive.

We did the beautiful walk between the rocky cliffs of the Hajar Mountains, the Rainbow Valley slowly emerges, and at the end of the hike, we are surrounded by high rocks in an overwhelming wave of color. This colorful valley is formed by layers of multi-colored rocks (kind of like pancakes) that make their way through the wadi, but we felt like we were on another planet.

The geological wonder of wade Ghub

Wadi Ghub is a geological wonder, they say, formed by millions of years of compressed sand, wind and water erosion. The layered effect essentially captures a wave in stone, revealing millions of years of geological history within the layers of sandstone.

Each layer offers a unique glimpse into the region's geological timeline, painting a picture of the rainfall, wildlife and landscapes that shaped the UAE millions of years ago.

Beautiful hike

The hike starts from the car park, uphill past the cellphone tower where we entered the wadi. We hiked to the viewpoint with the lovely layered rock formations and a little waterwadi. I guess, it was about 2 km one way. Along the way we met many mountain goats, who walked with us and tried to steal food. By the way, we walked with the three of us, as Lieke stayed in Dubai. She had a birthday celebration of one of her friends.
