Global Village

We just love Global Village. It is a lovely melting pot of many different cultures with various country pavilions, spectacular shows (monster truck show!), delicious food trucks, a floating market and restaurants, serving food from all over the world and a gigantic fair with exciting rides. It is not without reason that it is Dubai's touristic hotspot number 1 ..

This blog is a summary of many visits we made to global Village... Once inside it is teeming with people of different nationalities: both expats and tourists Global Village attracts over 6 million visitors annually. Global Village has a strong intercultural concept and is therefore very appealing and accessible.  

Our advise is to be there on time (4:00 pm), because if you are a little late, you can expect a traffic jam to this hotspot and that seems to be the case every day during the season!

The entrence: via a kind of "world square" (with  a miniature of the Burj Khalifa, the Eiffel Tower and the statue of liberty of NY), you walk through a street to the starting point of the country pavilions.

Country pavilions

Arrived at the 27 country pavilions. Here you can shop endlessly (+/- 3,500 stalls) for nice, local gadgets such as oriental herbs or a Persian carpet. It gives us the "street bazaar" feeling, partly due to the delicious smells that are spread from the local food stalls. The largest pavilion in Global Village is the India one with more than 300 stalls. “Global Village celebrate the various cultures” is the mission statement. Global Village tributes to Dubai with its international immigrant and expat culture, of which the India population is the largest in Dubai.

Superloop Stunt Show

During the 20-minute adrenaline-fueled show, the thrilled audience can cheer on the movements of these daredevils. Woohoo! For those who love drifting cars, small and large monster trucks, motorcycle stunts and heavy metal. Recommended!

Entertainment & Amusement Park 

There are many shows (about 13,000) during the 5-month season.

Fantasy Island Amusement Park counts over 50 rides and games of skill. Fun for the kids, less for the parents, unless you have a well-filled wallet. Au!
