The Camel Races

We visited the camel races at Al Marmoom Camel Race Track, the biggest track in the UAE. Camel racing is a very old tradition and it is an integral part to Emirati life for centuries. In one race, about 60 camels are racing together, making their way as fast as they can down the track. Their trainers follow in 4x4s in the track next to it. The camels wear robot jockeys on their back, which measures the time they are racing and finishing. 

We watched the races from the public area and got food and drinks for free. This is also part of the Arabian hospitality. Included was the special camel milk ;-) Great fun!
