The Green Planet

Lushness greets us, when we walked into The Green Planet. The 'planet' is built in a bio-dome in which a tropical forest has been created. It houses over 3,000 plants and animals, and even has a waterfall. In the middle of the dome is a giant tree, though artificial man-made but life-sustaining. Very cool done. A spiral walkway has been constructed around this tree, over which we descended from the upper floor to the ground floor, discovering four levels of the forest along the way.

  • The Canopy (the roof of the rainforest at approx. 45 meters above the ground, which absorbs the sunlight).
  • The Mid Story (this is the middle layer of the rainforest, where trees have large leaves in order to absorb any sunlight filtered down through the canopy).
  • The Forest Floor (this floor barely receives light, it is dark and humid).
  • The Flooded Rainforest (here is the perfect living conditions for all animals).

It is very educational but also enjoyable, because this place is fun for the whole family. Our children were able to see and touch many animals, which made The Green Planet a perfect day out!
