Day trip Khor Fakkan-Sharjah: Swifah Trail - Khor Kalba Mangrove Park - Kalba Bird of Prey Centre

Today, we celebrated our wedding anniversary with a nice and various day out: some hiking, a good lunch, a fresh milkshake at a farm on the road, wildlife viewing and a birds of prey show. It sounds like a lot, and it was! But it was all worth doing and visiting. Our route this day: Dubai - Khor Fakkan (Swifah trail) - Khor Kalba mangrove park - Kalba Bird of Prey Centre - One degree Winter Cafe - Dubai (in total: 360 km). We finished the day with pizza at Carluccio's.

Sharjah roughly consists of three areas. Sharjah City is the capital of the Emirate of Sharjah. The city has half a million inhabitants. It is located just nine kilometers north of Dubai and the two capitals are connected by a highway. The city, like Dubai, is located on a creek. This area has many museums. The second district is Sharjah Central Region, f.e. we visited Fossil Rock in this area: Jebel Mleiha Fossil Rock Sharjah hike.

And the last area is Sharjah East Coast, consisting of 4 small and large enclaves, and here we spend this daytrip.

First stop: Swifah Trail

Lunchtime

We had lunch in the old souk (area) in Khor Fakkan. The restaurant was called, the Coffee Address and it was really a good stop for lunch and coffee. In this area, there are more nice restaurants. After the lunch, we went to Khor Kalba Mangrove Park, but before we arrived there, we bought two coffees and two (fresh) milkshakes at Rumailah Farm (drive through). What a lovely concept.

Next stop: Khor Kalba Mangrove Centre

Last stop: Kalba Bird of Prey Centre at Al Ghayl Castle

We finished the day with a drink at One Degree Winter Cafe (half way home) but because it was too busy there, we decided to go for a pizza at Carluccio's in AR2.
