Art(work) & Sculpture route around Burj Khalifa
If the temperature has dropped a bit, it is delicious to walk around the Burj Khalifa. It is surprisingly fun and you will see a completely different side of the Burj Khalifa. The route takes about an hour, if you take some (photo) breaks, but there are also a few restaurants and picnic spots along the route, to sit and relax.
The map below shows the route, it is about 3 kilometers in total. The red dots indicate the locations of the artworks.
Love me by Richard Hudson
Start on the square in front of the Burj Khalifa and fountains, at the 'I love Dubai - sign'. There you wil find the big love heart sculpture.
Wings of Mexico Statue by Jorge Marin
From here you continue towards the roundabout (where the taxis always arrive and leave), to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Blvd and there you turn right. Then it is about a 5 minute walk to the next sculpture, one of the most photographed places in Dubai, Wings of Mexico, with in the background The Burj Khalifa.
Usually, there is quite a row of people lined up in front of the wings statue to photograph themselves in an instagrammable way. If you think it's worth the wait, get in line, otherwise keep walking and you can almost immediately turn right, down the stairs towards the square and the water. There are some restaurants along the way. Walk along the water and cross the bridge. In the water you will find some water lilies.
Win, Victory, Love by Tim Bravington
Almost immediately a large, white image looms up: Three Fingers Statue, or 'Win, Victory, Love' by Tim Bravington. Also on this spot, you can take beautiful pictures with the world's tallest building in the background.
Dandelions by Mirek Struzik
A little further on, you will see the 14 colorful 'dandelions'. You can capture them in one image with Bravington's three-finger statue (see photo below).
Declaration by eL Seed
After the 14 dandelions you can continue walking towards the Burj Khalifa through the park and soon the pink 'ribbons' of the artwork 'Declaration by eL Seed' will appear. The bright pink ribbons are words and it translates to: "Art in all its colors and kinds reflects the culture of the nations, their history and civilization."
After this artwork, cross the bridge to Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall and go back to your starting point.
